RESUMO

Objective:To explore any effect of combining intermittent theta-burst stimulation (iTBS) of the cerebellum with physiotherapy on the balance function and gait of stroke survivors.Methods:Thirty-two hemiplegic stroke survivors were divided at random into a treatment group and a control group, each of 16. Both groups received conventional physical therapy. Before their physiotherapy sessions the treatment group received iTBS treatment of the cerebellar hemisphere contralateral to the affected cerebral hemisphere, while the control group was given pseudo-stimulation on the same site. The iTBS was given once a day for 200s each time, 6 times a week for 3 weeks consecutively. Before and after the treatment, as well as 3 weeks later, both groups′ balance was evaluated using the Berg Balance Scale (BBS). Their ability to shift their center of gravity, total length of their shaking trajectory, and maximum shaking diameter were also quantified. Walking ability was assessed using 10m walk test (10MWT) times and the Tinetti Gait Assessment Scale (POMA-G). Lower limb motor function was quantified using the relevant Fugl-Meyer assessment (FMA-LE) and the subjects′ ability in the activities of daily living was measured with the Barthel index (BI).Results:After the 3 weeks of treatment and at the follow-up the average BBS score of the treatment group had improved significantly more than the control group′s average, as had its total track length and maximum shake diameter. The average POMA-G, FMA-LE and BI scores of the treatment group were also significantly better. Conclusions:Combining iTBS with physiotherapy can improve the balance and gait of stroke survivors more effectively than physiotherapy alone.

RESUMO

Tubulin has been shown to be an effective target for the development of cytotoxic agents against prostate cancer. Previously, we reported that Lx2-32c is an anti-tubulin agent with high binding affinity to tubulin. In this study, we investigated the potential of Lx2-32c to act as an effective cytotoxic agent in the treatment of prostate cancer. MTT assays showed that Lx2-32c was cytotoxic to all tested prostate cancer cell lines. The Lx2-32c-treated cells typically exhibited a rounded morphology associated with the onset of apoptosis, as evidenced by immunocytochemical staining. Human prostate cancer cell lines treated with Lx2-32c arrest in the G2/M phase of the cell cycle and the treatment is associated with an increased ratio of cells in the sub-G0/G1 phase as determined by flow cytometry. Furthermore, expression of the cleaved form of poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase in prostate cancer cell lines treated with Lx2-32c was shown by Western blotting assay. Xenograft implants of LNCaP and PC3-derived tumors in nude mice showed that Lx2-32c treatment significant inhibited tumor growth with effects equivalent to those of docetaxel. These findings demonstrate the potential of Lx2-32c as a candidate antitumor agent for the treatment of prostate cancer.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE:To extract volatile rose oil by the supercritical fluid extraction technology.METHODS:The optimum extraction technology condition was investigated by orthogonal experiment with extraction rate as the evaluation in?dex, and with the pressure, temperature of extraction and the flow of CO 2 as investigation factors(3levels of each were cho?sen).RESULTS:The optimum technology condition was the following:the extraction pressure was25MPa,the temperature was50℃and the flux of CO 2 was600L/h.CONCLUSION:The established method has the following merits:high extraction rate, fast speed, simple technics,pollution-free,pure extraction etc.

RESUMO

Objective To detect the expression of integrin ?5?1 in restenosed human vein grafts. Methods The expression of integrin ?5?1 and ?-smooth muscle actin(?-SMA) in 30 resected restenosed human vein grafts(from Kerfuff clinical hospital of Germany) was detected by confocal immunofluorescence with specific antibodies against ?5?1 and ?-SMA.Images were processed with Silicon Graphics Octane. Results In normal veins, integrin ?5?1 expression was very weak in media smooth muscle cells and in endothelium, and ?-SMA expression was present in media smooth muscle cells. In the restenosed vein grafts, integrin ?5?1 was strongly stained in the media smooth muscle cells and intimal endothelial cells, and moderately in the intimal smooth muscle cells,?-SMA was present in media smooth muscle cells and in the intimal smooth muscle cells. Conclusion Our research reveals that integrin ?5?1 is significantly upregulated in the media smooth muscle cells and intimal endothelial cells in the restenosed human vein grafts, suggesting the participation of integrin ?5?1 in the restenosis formation of human vein grafts.

RESUMO

Objective To explore the expression and its significance of growth-associated protein(GAP-43 ) and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNK) receptor TrkB gene in rat hippocampus after epilepsy induced by pilocarpine (PILO). Methods In situ hybrid histochemical method was used to observe the changes of the expression of GAP-43 and TrkB mRNA in hippocampus after status epilepticus( SE) induced by PIOL. Results At 3 - 6h following the onset of status epilepticus(SE), TrkB mRNA expression was dramatically high than control groups in the dentate gyrus granule cell and CA3,CA1 pyramidal cell layers(P
